What is Haldex 4WD?

The Haldex 4WD system is now standard equipment in all Volkswagen Audi Skoda four-wheel drive (AWD) cars. The system allows the car to switch seamlessly between front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive as conditions require. At FYRR we offer Haldex service at our workshop in Hamarshöfði. As an independent workshop in Volkswagen Audi and Skoda, we have the knowledge and equipment needed to service the system properly.

Does my car need Haldex service?

In newer four-wheel drive cars, the filter, which was present on older versions and collected wear particles from the clutch mechanism, has disappeared. Instead, an oil filter/screen has been installed that can clog over time. When this happens, the oil can become contaminated with "mud". This leads to poorer lubrication and as the Haldex clutch is a wet clutch it is particularly important that the oil is clean to prevent overheating and damage to this vital component.

To ensure that the Haldex system remains properly lubricated, regular Haldex service with us is a good option. Our Haldex service is a full service – where in addition to changing the Haldex oil we remove the Haldex pump, clean the strainer, replace the sealing rings and bolts and replace the filter if necessary.
